First Aid at Work (HSE)
The FAW course is three days and on the final day the student will be assessed by a independent assessor arranged by us. The HSE strongly recommends that the first aider takes an annual refresher but this can be done online with our e-learning service. Certification last for three years and so long as the student has not let their qualification expire they can sit a two day refresher course as opposed to a full three day course.
COURSE CONTENT
- Understand the role of the first aider including reference to the use of available equipment and the need for recording incidents and actions
- Understand the importance of basic hygiene in first aid procedures
- Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act, safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious and or in seizure
- Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding and or in shock
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is chocking
- Provide appropriate first aid for minor injury
- Recognising the presence of major illness and applying general first aid principles in its management
